Glendon College is a campus of York University with beautiful and labeled trees. The trail includes path inside the college and continue through Glendon Forest, take the connection to Sunnybrook Hospital, and walk along the Don River Valley.

The Glendon forest is a remarkably quiet and picturesque place within a busy city, used by walkers, birders and photographers.  You can stand on the path, look around and not see a building, and listen and not hear a vehicle.  After following the footpaths from the Glendon Forest to Sunnybrook Park, you can continue north to Edwards Gardens or southeast, eventually to the Toronto waterfront.

The West Don river flows through the lower campus.  Past the athletic field, which was once a farmer’s field, footpaths lead into a forest and go to Sunnybrook Park.  The river, ravines and park system extend for miles. After Hurricane Hazel in 1954, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority prohibited building in floodplains, and Toronto’s ravine system was developed as parkland.

The Friends of the Glendon Forest worked with York University, the City of Toronto Parks department, and the project to revitalize the Don River to protect and conserve the Glendon Forest.  These efforts led to the prohibition of mountain biking, restrictions on dog-walking, the restoration of the riverbed and pathways, extension of natural area and the installation of educational signage.
