Located in a river valley in the middle of typical south-central Ontario countryside, the park includes a variety of valley landforms created by the meandering Boyne River.
You can find more than 100 species of bird in the park, including the ruby-throated hummingbird, yellow warbler, and purple finch. You can also find other wildlife including squirrels, rabbits, beaver, fox, turtles and frogs.
Earl Rowe has a total of 400 campsites located in two different campground areas: Riverside Campgrounds (Salmon Run Campground, Rabbit Loop Campground, Blue Heron Campground, Heydon Way Campground) and West Side Campgrounds (Fletcher Field Campground, Boyne Meadow Campground, Trillium Woods Campground, Meadowbrook Campground). Most sites have shade and 183 have electrical service. Three group camping areas are also available. See: Earl Rowe Campgrounds Map.
A limited number of picnic tables are located throughout the park. Four Picnic Shelters are available for rent. To reserve a picnic shelter, call the park at 705-435-2498.
A comfort station with flush toilets is located on each side of the lake. A playground is also located on each side of the lake.
The Park Store is located on the east side of the lake, near the beach. The store offers sundry items, groceries, ice cream, camping supplies and Ontario Parks souvenir merchandise and rental items. On the west side of the lake, a small concession is located near the entrance to the pool, offering most of the above items.
Canoes, paddleboats are available for rent at the Park Store. For a $25 refundable deposit, visitors can borrow a properly fitted PFD (personal floatation device). Staff can outfit visitors with a PFD at the pool and Resource Center.
During the winter, visitors can enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and winter walks. Note that no facilities are open after Thanksgiving.
