Dayna Laxton, Invasive Species Specialist at York Region’s Natural Heritage and Forestry Section will speak on ‘What plants NOT to plant’.
Dayna Laxton is the Invasive Species Specialist at York Region’s Natural Heritage and Forestry Section. Dayna has been with York Region for the last ten years and is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of invasive species management plans and strategies; striving to conserve the biodiversity of the Region’s flora and fauna by supporting individuals and organizations working to prevent, manage, or control invasive species; serving as a resource to the Natural Heritage and Forestry Team specifically; and working closely with other departments and partners to ensure that best practices are developed and that the invasive species information and databases for the Region are accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive. Dayna is also the lead on many ecological monitoring initiatives for the York Regional Forest and has the pleasure of leading the tallgrass prairie creation and restoration projects at the Bendor & Graves Tract and Nobleton Tract.

Cost: $10 at the door helps to defray the cost of the hall and refreshments
